On January 8, 2011, RDFZ Bridge Team went to the Great Hall of the People to participate in the sixth “Higher Education Cup” Spring-Welcoming Bridge Competition for Beijing College Students at the invitation of the Ministry of Education. As a traditional event for colleges and universities of Beijing, it features players from higher learning institutions and the Ministry of Education, teaming with elite bridge players, social celebrities like world chess champion Xie Jun as well as bridge teams from China’s top- ranked universities such as Peking University and Tsinghua University. RDFZ Bridge Team, led by Secretary Wang Minzhu and Principal Zhai Xiaoning, was the only high school team competing in the event.

At the brief opening ceremony, an Education Ministry leader spoke highly of the progress and achievements made by RDFZ Bridge Team over the years and extended his warm welcome to our presence. In the competition, RDFZ players fared excellently and took the top prize.

On the sidelines of the competition, RDFZ Bridge Team players and teachers were received by former Premier Li Lanqing, who inquired about the students’ school life and encouraged them to work harder, hoping that there would be young bridge masters coming to the fore in the Beijing-based top high school.　 

During the whole process of the competition, RDFZ students showcased the fruits of quality education program carried out in the school with their elegant temperament, civilized and polite manner, spirit of sportsmanship and superb professional skills, wining wide acclaim from participating leaders and college professors.
