RDFZ News (Reporters: Ye Yunlin, Zhu Feng, Hu Long) — On the afternoon of March 9, the 1st "Hanqing Cup" History Quiz Competition, hosted by the History Teaching and Research Group, concluded successfully in the Yifu Building auditorium.

School leaders and teachers including Li Xiaofeng, Liang Liping, Yu Xiujuan, Wu Zhongcai, Liang Yuechan, Lei Yang, Wang Qian, Yu Lan, and Lei Yang attended and watched the competition.

This competition was designed to test students' history learning outcomes, to stimulate interest in the history discipline, to review historical timelines and appreciate the charm of civilization through engaging competition, and to share in a distinctly unique historical encounter.
This competition consisted of a preliminary round and a final round. All 10th grade students and 11th grade students who selected history participated. The preliminary round was a history knowledge quiz, held in written form on March 4. 16 contestants were ultimately selected, forming 4 teams to compete in the final.

The chief examiner of the final was Teacher Hu Honggen of the History Group. The final featured four segments: "Steady and Methodical" (mandatory questions), "Telepathy" (collaboration questions), "Follow the Clues" (quick-answer questions), and "Go for Broke" (risk questions). Each segment built progressively upon the last, comprehensively testing contestants' knowledge reserves, on-the-spot reactions, and teamwork abilities, presenting a historical and cultural feast that combined both knowledge and fun.

In the "Steady and Methodical" segment, each team had to select one group of questions from four groups — "Magnificent Rivers and Mountains," "Years of Struggle," "Codes and Systems," and "Philosophical and Literary Lineage" — and answer them. Students responded calmly, demonstrating solid historical foundations and showcasing the fruits of their daily accumulation.

The "Telepathy" segment was highly entertaining. Some teams got stuck in a "loop" over a single word, with the describer anxiously waving their arms while the guesser looked on blankly, drawing constant laughter from the audience. Other teams worked in perfect coordination, with the describer conveying the meaning with just a few words and the guesser understanding immediately and calling out the answer with impressive speed, drawing exclamations of admiration from the audience below.

The "Follow the Clues" segment was tense and intense. The moment the examiner finished stating the conditions, the buzzer buttons were pressed one after another. Contestants focused their full attention and reacted swiftly; the joy of a correct answer gaining points and the regret of an incorrect answer losing points continuously intertwined. In the final "Go for Broke" segment, facing four questions of varying difficulty and point values assigned the themes of the four Chinese characters in the school name "RDFZ" (人 — People, 大 — University, 附 — Affiliated, 中 — Middle), with both opportunity and risk present, some teams chose to play it safe while others chose to go for broke, greatly increasing the suspense of the competition.

After four intense segments, Team 2 won first prize, Team 4 won second prize, and Teams 1 and 3 won third prize.

During the intervals between competition segments, audience question-and-answer sessions were also arranged, delivering both knowledge and surprises, as the charm of history was quietly passed on through interaction, fully embodying the careful design of the word "fun."

At the conclusion of the event, Li Xiaofeng, lifetime honorary advisor of the History Teaching and Research Group and a renowned special-grade teacher, gave a summary. He fully affirmed the positive effects of this competition, highly praised the students' knowledge reserves and outstanding performances, and expressed great anticipation for the next edition of the competition.

"Since ancient times, who can escape death? Let loyalty's glow illuminate the annals of history." In this quiz competition, students used the "hanqing" (annals of history) as their symbol, gathering the brilliance of a thousand years of civilization, and experiencing the collision of wisdom in an exciting competition. Though there are winners and losers in the competition, the RDFZ community's warmth and reverence for history, and their spirit of exploration and inquiry, will never cease.
